1. How Important is 5G?

5G is a new communications ecosystem that is being implemented globally. This new environment should expand the offer of mobile and fixed connectivity, with more speed, coverage, flexibility and reliability compared to what we have available today. Thus, new applications can be developed and many industries should benefit from a productivity gain. This process has also started in Brazil with some specific initiatives by the mobile operators of the companies and should move forward quickly after the spectrum auction scheduled for 2021. Brazil will need 5G to increase its international competitiveness.

2. Why should I register my antennas?
In view of the probable bidding for part of a band from band C to 5G later this year, it is important to have the registration of receiving stations operating in band C in Anatel's database. Receiving stations operating in C band, in the frequency range from 3,625 MHz to 4,200 MHz, and the respective issuance of the operating license must be registered, so that Anatel's systems, currently STEL and Mosaico, are updated.
Anatel has indicated that this registration must be completed within the next 60 days in order to allow the consideration of these stations in the coordination process with the entry of 5G services in the 3.5 GHz band.
Attachment we forwarded an ABERT statement showing the relevance of this registration and its procedure.

The step by step to make this registration can be found in the Station Licensing Manual,

3. What is the amount to be paid for registration?

Anatel is allowing registration without paying a fee at this stage of the process exactly to speed up these registration

4. I tried to register my antenna, went on the website, read the manual and still have questions. How should I proceed?
With the main objective of making it easier for our customers to register their antennas, SES provides an outsourced professional to:

a) Interact with SES customers in Brazil, operating with terrestrial stations in Band C, and to clarify the need for the registration procedure for all stations associated with customer service, whether yours or your customer users;
b) Guide the customer step by step to carry out the registration process directly on ANATEL's website, according to the Station Licensing Manual,
c) If the customer is unable or unwilling to register directly on the ANATEL website, the customer may authorize XL before Anatel to register on his behalf, XL being authorized to request the complete data of the stations to make the registration effective. XL's authorization procedures with Anatel must be carried out by the customer.
