Papua New Guinea’s University of Technology (Unitech) is the only technological university in the South Pacific, outside of Australia and New Zealand. It has approximately 3,000 students, primarily drawn from Papua New Guinea and the neighbouring Pacific islands.

Our partnership has made Unitech the first university in the world to provide reliable, high-speed internet for its staff and students on the innovative O3b fleet of MEO satellites. The staff and students will experience digital connectivity on par with that available in highly developed nations.

“Our students are extremely excited to get this first-hand experience with such cutting-edge technology. They will be involved in installing, maintaining and running the O3b system. Next month, our first-year students will be provided with SES Networks–connected laptops. Each of them will be able to use the internet just like students in Sydney or Hong Kong, and will be equipped to be leaders in the global digital revolution. We couldn’t afford for another generation of our students to be left behind.” Dr. Albert Schram, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Unitech
