What will the new combined company bring?
  • The new SES is a stronger space solutions company with an expanded fleet of about 120 satellites across two orbits
  • SES is the only company operating nearly 90 geostationary (GEO), and 30 medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites, with strategic access to low earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
  • SES also has the largest fibre network among satellite operators, providing access worldwide through 150 owned and partner teleports and 50 points of presence (PoPs)
  • As a combined company, SES can now deliver media and connectivity solutions utilising complementary spectrum bands including C-, Ku-, Ka-, Military Ka-, X-band, and Ultra High Frequency
  • SES’s stronger financial profile will enable SES to invest €600–€650 million annually in emerging segments and new technologies to explore new growth markets such as IoT, direct-to-device, inter-satellite data relay, space situational awareness, Earth observation and quantum key distribution
Specifically, what does the new company bring to each industry it serves?
  • The new SES will deliver deeper expertise, broader solutions, and even better service to our customers
  • Government: Provide enhanced provision of secure, differentiated multi-orbit space capabilities and support the development of most innovative hybrid space architectures to better address sovereign space requirements from one trusted and proven partner with over 50 years of experience
  • Media: Provide access to a scaled network, with global media satellite reach and harmonised ground infrastructure enabling the delivery of content to almost 2 billion people globally, with high levels of service assurance
  • Cruise/Commercial Maritime and Aviation: Leading capacity provider that can provide enhanced satellite capacity and can integrate satellite networks across broader network ecosystems, elevating SES’s customers’ connectivity experiences
  • Fixed Data: Leading capacity provider to MNOs and enterprises can now scale across combined fleets to match the application needs for enterprise, energy, mobile backhaul, 5G and private 5G, business continuity and disaster recovery, and internet trunking services.
  • In the next weeks and months, our teams will be spending their time combining the satellite fleets, our ground networks and services
  • We will optimise our product and the way we deliver our services, ensuring that our new suite of solutions will deliver the most value for our customers
Who’s going to be my new account manager? When will they bring me what the new company has to offer?
  • We are currently finalising account assignments, and your account manager will be reaching out to you soon to set up a meeting to introduce you to the new SES
  • Meanwhile if you have any questions, please continue to reach out to your current account representatives
I am a customer of SES and/or Intelsat. Will my contract change?
  • For SES and Intelsat customers, the terms and conditions of your contracts (including the designated bank accounts for receipts) remain the same
  • For Intelsat US LLC customers, your contract will now reside with Intelsat US 2 LLC as of today. This administrative update does not require any action on your part other than noting the new payee which will be reflected on future invoices
Today I am an Intelsat customer, but I want to buy an SES service. Who do I go to?

You can go to your current point of contact. Now that we are a combined company, our sales team are able to cross sell services and products

Between the two companies, there are multiple operating terrestrial teleports. Will some of these close because of operational synergies? What about other operations centres?
  • Both Intelsat and SES have made significant investments in teleports, satellite operations centres (SOCs) and network operations centres (NOCs)
  • However, the terrestrial network and associated SOCs and NOCs will be part of the expected synergies, and we will look to maximise the use and efficiency of our combined capabilities in the coming months

How will SES continue to support Europe’s IRIS2 project and still provide connectivity to the US Govt?
  • The company’s headquarters remains in Luxembourg, and the Luxembourg government continues as a key shareholder. For decades, SES has worked extensively with European governments, the European Union and the European Space Agency
  • Similarly, before acquiring Intelsat, SES had already been a trusted provider of satellite services to the U.S. Government for decades. The new SES also will have a FOCI-mitigated USG business based in Northern Virginia
  • Our well-established European presence combined with a now-larger corporate and operational presence in the United States positions SES to seamlessly support the critical missions of our government customers on both sides of the Atlantic
