QVC UK Ensures Continuity of its Retail Channels Across the British Isles with SES
QVC audiences in the UK and Ireland to benefit from the extension of direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast of its retail channels provided by SES and MX1
Luxembourg, 13 September 2018 -- British and Irish viewers will continue to receive QVC’s range of retail channels as the result of a multi-year renewal agreement signed with SES, including services from MX1.
The new agreement covers QVC’s continued lease of capacity from SES’ ASTRA 2G satellite and complementary ground services such as encoding, fibre, backup services, and uplinking from SES and SES’ wholly-owned video subsidiary, MX1. This one-stop shop combination of video distribution and services enables QVC to ease its operational processes.
This important renewal is a continuation of the service SES has been delivering to QVC in UK and Ireland since the 1990s. Today this relationship is global with QVC relying on SES to deliver their retail channel range in multiple markets around the world.
“We have relied on SES’ services for over 20 years and are pleased to extend our partnership further,” said Brian Farrelly, VP Content & UK Commerce Platforms of QVC UK. “Using a full service package is an important element in our strategy to enable us to reach our customers in the UK and Ireland reliably and efficiently.”
"We are pleased to have concluded this renewal with QVC which benefits from the comprehensive mix of services that SES and MX1 provide, much of which is performed at our Betzdorf and Munich facilities,” said Ferdinand Kayser, Chief Executive Officer of SES Video. “The orbital position of 28.2 / 28.5 degrees East is our prime neighbourhood to serve this key market area, where we distribute video to over 19 million TV homes in the UK and Ireland.”
