Every Moment, Delivered
Bringing live judo to audiences worldwide
From the intensity of the Paris Grand Slam to events staged across four continents, judo depends on precision. Every throw, every landing, every score must be captured exactly as it happens — and delivered instantly to audiences worldwide.
The International Judo Federation (IJF) runs a global tour of more than 20 events each year. Each competition takes place in a different country, with different infrastructure, teams, and technical environments. No two events are the same. But the expectation is constant: flawless, live coverage — every time.
Delivering judo is not a single broadcast. It is a continuous, global operation. Each event introduces new variables, from shifting locations and infrastructure to fast-moving production logistics. Crews, equipment, and workflows must reset quickly between events, while up to 16 cameras per tatami capture every angle required for scoring and replay. Officials rely on absolute precision to make decisions in real time.
There is no margin for delay. No second attempt. If a moment is missed, it’s gone.
SES delivers the infrastructure that carries every match from the tatami to a global audience — live and without interruption. From each venue, live feeds are transmitted through SES’s global teleport network and distributed to broadcasters worldwide, reaching audiences in more than 100 countries.
A hybrid, multi-orbit network combining GEO and MEO capacity maintains consistent performance across locations, regardless of local conditions. This allows production teams to operate with confidence as the tour moves from country to country.
Beyond live delivery, SES supports IJF’s full content workflow through the SES SCORE platform. More than 300,000 hours of content are ingested, stored, and organized in a single secure environment, enabling broadcasters to access, edit, and distribute material quickly — extending the value of every match.
SES and IJF have worked together for more than 15 years with a clear division of roles. IJF drives the sport — developing competitions, producing events, and shaping the viewing experience. SES ensures every moment reaches the world, managing contribution, distribution, and global reach.
This clarity removes friction. Production teams stay focused on capturing the action. SES ensures delivery performs — every time, in every location.
When delivery holds, the focus stays on the sport. Fans see every angle. Every call. Every defining moment. Broadcasters receive content they can trust. Audiences follow the tour from anywhere in the world.
That reach drives growth — expanding visibility, deepening engagement, and connecting more people to the sport.
Because in judo, the moment decides everything. And when that moment reaches the world, the sport grows.
Jack Willingham TV Director, International Judo FederationAs a TV Director, I know that with SES we can start the live broadcast, and we will have seamless coverage everywhere. We know we're in safe hands. That’s how we grow and get more eyes on judo.
