Free-To-Air Solution

The Opportunity

Brazil benefits from a strong direct satellite reception market, which offers C-band delivery of both analog and digital channels at no cost to the user.

There are an estimated 10 to 12 million homes that receive these satellite-delivered channels, with about 8 million relying exclusively on the system for TV reception and access to free daily content on Brazilian open TV.

Access to this nationwide TV audience of millions or specific communities of interest throughout the country represents powerful growth opportunities for your company. Whether your goals include achieving increased revenues, boosting advertising sales, rising product sales, distributing your message and content to the people you want to reach most, satellite-delivered television opens the door to new customers across your markets.

SES Solution

SES has customized a high quality video solution for the Brazilian market, called Free-To-Air. This innovative solution allows the channels to use the end-to-end SES platform to deliver content over Ku-band satellite capacity directly to homes across Brazil.

Your company delivers the TV or radio signal directly to the SES teleport (Hortolândia - SP) in the most convenient way – either via fiber link, internet, satellite, or over the Internet, using the SES system that guarantees quality distribution.
From there, SES uplinks the signal on its own satellite platform, leveraging reliable and secure transponders to ensure high quality images and sound reach TV and radio audiences.

As the coverage of SES 10 extends over the entire Brazilian territory, this superior content can be accessed even in the most remote regions.

TV audiences across Brazil can enjoy both HD and SD content using nothing more than a small diameter dish (Ku Band) and a Set-Top-Box (STB) with DVB- S2.

The end users that already have a Set-Top-Box (STB) with DVB-S2 technology and a C Band parabolic antenna, can access the TV content only adding a Ku Antenna and a DiSEqC key.

To ensure high availability of tower reception, 1.8-meter or 2.4 meter antennas can be used.

SES has a network of partners that sell and distribute Ku-band antennas and Set-Top-Box(STB) technology throughout the country.
