SAT>IP Alliance aims to develop and promote SAT>IP technology, enabling satellite TV throughout the home to multiple screens

LUXEMBOURG, 11 September 2015 – Eutelsat, one of the leading satellite operators, today announced it is joining the SAT>IP Alliance to support the development and adoption of the SAT>IP technology.

The SAT>IP Alliance was initiated six leading satellite operators and manufacturers - SES, HISPASAT, Panasonic, NAGRA, ALi Corporation and MaxLinear - and aims to accelerate the adoption of SAT>IP in the satellite industry and push this technology to the consumers market. Constituted as a non-profit organization in Luxembourg, the coalition is going to promote the use of the protocol, develop compatible hardware and software, and facilitate products certification.

The SAT>IP standard, developed in 2011 by SES, converts satellite signals into Internet Protocol (IP) network, using a small server either located on in a satellite dish or in the user’s home. This enables high-quality satellite programs to be received on any IP capable device: smartphones, tablets, laptops. Supported by over 40 hardware and software companies, SAT>IP counts today around 75 different compliant products.
