Satellite operator SES Africa will be giving away an innovative Navdy portable heads-up display (HUD) that enhances the driving experience to one lucky delegate at the upcoming SES iDAfrica 17 to be held at The Lookout Waterfront in Cape Town on the 6th of November through an exciting gamification process.
Moderated by industry veteran and SES Vice-President of Technology and Standards, Thomas Wrede, iD17 will showcase the latest developments in the satellite industry and how they will impact broadcasting, connectivity, and content across Africa.
The keynote speakers, respected thought leaders Advocate Thuli Madonsela, Justin Spratt and Dr. Miriam Oltman will explore how technology is enabling a connected society and how it is being used as a disruptor. This will be geared towards assisting delegates identify business opportunities through satellite technology.
“The conference provides an ideal platform to engage with other like-minded professionals, executives, and technical specialists who share a passion about the industry. As such, we thought it would be a great opportunity to provide an equally exciting prize in the Navdy through an engaging gamification component,” says Laurent Petit, Head of Africa for SES.
The Navdy is a dashboard HUD that integrates with a smartphone with gesture control enabling the driver to remain focused on the road while still able to view and control elements such as GPS navigation, call identification, and multimedia aspects like selecting a music playlist and choosing a podcast to listen to.
To stand in line to win the Navdy, SES has created multiple entry points for delegates. And, in the true spirit of competition, the more of these used, the better chance a person has of winning.
The first entry point is via the invitations to the iDAfrica 17 event and the exclusive SES Customer Party. Invitees will gain an entry by confirming their attendance. Secondly, every meeting booked through the SES Portal will provide a delegate with an additional entry point.
And being in an app-driven environment, SES has developed the SES Mobile Event app for both Android and iOS to provide delegates with all relevant event information in the palm of their hands. The app will also allow delegates to scan various QR codes placed at the venue and the exhibitor stands for more entry points. Using the app will give them the chance to rate speakers and receive more points.
Throughout the competition, delegates will be able to monitor their progress on a leaderboard with the winner to be announced at the SES Customer Party on November 7th 2017.
“Instead of going the traditional route of doing a lucky draw with business cards at the end of the event, SES decided to create a compelling competition designed to get delegates to engage with all aspects of the iDAfrica 17 experience. We are looking forward to illustrating through this practical way that how SES is able to harness the latest technology innovation and deliver it in such a way to benefit people,” concludes Petit.
Each one of the following actions gets individuals ONE entry into the draw to win a Navdy portable heads-up display (HUD):
1. Entry for everyone who RSVP’s (1 entry per event)
2. Registration (1 entry) using app
3. speaker you rate (one entry for each speaker rated)
4. AfricaCom stand QR code scan (1 entry)
5. Customer Party (1 entry)
6. Customer Party Draw (1 entry)
There is one draw that will be held – which will be held at the customer party.
If the winning individual is not present at the Customer Party – they will not be given the prize and we will redo the draw and give the Navdy portable heads-up display (HUD) to the next present individual.
