It’s exciting time for SES as we prepare for the launch of SES-6 our 53rd satellite and the first of the four SES satellite launches planned in 2013. Manufactured at EADS Astrium in Toulouse, France, SES-6 is almost ready for launch and is being rolled-out to the launch pad in Baikonur, Kazakhstan where it will be launched on board an ILS Proton Breeze M booster on Monday 3 June.
The spacecraft is equipped with 43 C-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent) and 48 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent). SES-6 will replace NSS-806 at 40.5° West to provide significant capacity expansion over North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Atlantic Ocean region.
Stay tuned for more updates on the launch of SES-6.
