Yet another successful satellite launch for SES! At 6:18 pm local time in Kourou, French Guiana, our 52nd satellite, ASTRA 2F, lifted off into space on board an Ariane 5 rocket. In the coming weeks, the satellite will be subjected to in-orbit testing and will then start its service at the 28.2° East orbital slot.
ASTRA 2F’s mission is to provide incremental capacity for sub-Saharan African DTH platforms as well as enhancing overall flexibility at 28.2°. Our 52nd satellite’s Ka-band will allow our broadband services to support download speeds of up to 20 Mps. It is the first of a three satellite investment programme (ASTRA 2E, 2F and 2G).
